CPC - Continuing Professional Competency - the name for the new NY State continuing education law

HVCTS - Hudson Valley Council of Technical Societies - a cross organizational engineering societies council in the lower Hudson River Valley

MCPC - Metropolitan Chapter Presidents Council - a body of the five NYC NSPE chapters

MESC - Metropolitan Engineering Societies Council - a cross organizational engineering societies council in NYC

NSPE - National Society of Professional Engineers

NYC - New York City

NYS - New York State

NYSSPE - New York State Society of Professional Engineers

OP - Office of the Professions (part of SED)

PDH - Professional Development Hour - the unit of measure for compliance with the CPC law

PIE - Practicing Institute of Engineering, Inc. - a CPC sponsoring organization under NYS charter

SED -  (NY) State Education Department - responsible for the licensed professions
