George P. Golovchenko, P.E. Receives the Meritorious Service Award from NYSSPEPresented at the Annual Awards and Installations Banquet 6/14/2002 Binghamton NYJune 14, 2002 -- The following is the text of the proclamation read by Nominating Committee Chair Randolph W. Rakoczynski, P.E., following which the award was presented by NYSSPE President Rudolph C. Petruccelli, P.E.. "George Golovchenko, P.E., from the Bronx, New York, has been selected as the recipient of our 2002 NYSSPE Meritorious Service Award. This honor is presented to a Professional Engineer who has made an outstanding contribution to the goals of the Society over an extended period of time. A member of NYSSPE and the Bronx Chapter since 1962, George has held every elected position in the Bronx Chapter, including six years as chapter president. He also served as a State Society Vice President. George was instrumental in the formation of and continues to be a leader in MESC – an umbrella organization covering all the engineering societies in NYC including the 5 NYSSPE chapters. MESC is responsible for organizing the highly successful annual Engineers Week celebration at the NY Academy of Sciences. Also, he participates in MCPC – the Metropolitan Chapter Presidents council – a monthly meeting of the five NYC chapters of NYSSPE to discuss common issues.
