Applications for the Chapter sponsored scholarship in memory of William H. Bailey, Jr., P.E. are now available.Qualifications for the Bailey Scholarship are: A.
United States citizen. B.
Resident of the Bronx C.
Currently enrolled as a full time student in an ABET accredited
undergraduate Engineering program and has completed one year of Engineering
coursework. D.
African-American ethnicity and United States citizen. E.
You will be available to receive the award in person at the Bronx
Chapter – NYSSPE Annual
Dinner on the evening of Wednesday, June 20, 2007 held in the Bronx. Applications can be downloaded as Adobe Acrobat files by using this link: Bailey Memorial Scholarship Application Applications are due by April 1, 2008
Posted November 2, 2004 Members with a high school senior should note that the Foundation for Engineering Education- Past Officers Scholarship for children of members will be available again. This $2000 scholarship is restricted to the child of a NYSSPE member. Applications for and a description of this award can be obtained by contacting FEE Scholarship Chairperson, Leo Hetling at 518-439-2101 or via email at lhetling@att.net. Leo reports that there is not a lot of competition for this scholarship so members with graduating seniors that plan to attend engineering schools are encouraged to apply."
Members should also note that there are several NSPE scholarships available -
for high school seniors, current engineering students, and graduate

In MemoriamWilliam H. Bailey, P.E.It is with deep sadness that the chapter notes the passing of our friend and colleague, long time member, and twice past president, William H. Bailey, Jr., P.E., on February 9, 2005. Mrs. Bailey has asked that those who so wish contribute to a scholarship fund through the Chapter. You can make a contribution in Bill's memory via check payable to "Foundation for Engineering Education" and in the memo line write "For Bronx Chapter Scholarship in Wm. Bailey's Memory". The chapter will ask Mrs. Bailey to help establish the scholarship criteria and to present the award.
